i'm held accountable; i'm held beyond the booing crowds.
i was not reliable; never would i have trusted me.
but i am not alone; i walk amidst so many more
who were not dependable

i'm held responsible; i'm held in freezing bitter space
without a mother's love; so much as a caring face
but you are not alone (no, no, no); you're in a wake of bubbling salt
and it's all spilling towards that fruitful windless shore.

without the truth, i simply cannot grow
and without the truth, i always start to show
a stunted life in a sublet world
without a real friend; a friend that i really know

and without a friend, it cannot be
that i live in you; you live in me
we cannot pay appropriately
to earn a stripe or to turn a key

but you can bet on forgiveness and though it shows
a relieved face, one less breath that i gotta hold
a brand new beginning, an old belonging
i can't feel in the life, i can't feel in my life

but you can bet on forgiveness and though it shows
a relieved face, one less breath that i gotta hold
a brand new beginning, an old belonging
you can't feel within the life i'm living
without the truth within the living
without the truth

there's no way i can stand!
there's no way i can breathe or sing over the land!
with brittle little feet, a broken little heart
will pray to something up above
within the living.

The Truth must be placed on the table in front of us, such that we can discuss it with dignity, love and respect. Only THEN it becomes friendly...Because we grow from it. This takes courage. A shitload of courage. Without the Truth, we simply cannot grow.
